Cheryl Osborne, RN, EdD

Cheryl Osborne, RN, EdD is the Director of the Gerontology Program and Longevity Center, and a Professor of Gerontology and Nursing at the California State University, Sacramento.


Dr. Osborne received her Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of San Francisco in 1990 and her Masters of Nursing, chronic illness focus, from Chico State in 1983.


She is a frequent speaker on topics pertaining to successful aging, care-giving, and various aspects of care management of elders and their families through gerontological nursing practice.


Dr. Osborne also researches and writes about the needs of older adults as they pertain to chronic conditions, quality of life, and caregiver issues as well as use of internships and service learning to enhance student learning.


She is active on many boards in the aging community at the local, regional, and state levels. She is also involved in many university committees at California State University, Sacramento and serves as the advisor to the CSUS chapter of Sigma Phi Omega, the Gerontology Alumni Association, and Gerontology Student Club.


Her experience in gerontology and geriatrics spans 34 years of practice and focuses on both augmenting healthy aging and coping with the challenges of aging.
