CCGG Board Nominations
CCGG is governed by a volunteer board of educators, aging service professionals, policymakers, students, and advocates. Descriptions of all CCGG Board of Directors and officer positions are provided below. Each position represents an elected office who serves for a 2-year term.

CCGG BOARD OF DIRECTORS
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, members of the CCGG Board of Directors are expected to maintain current membership status, attend Board of Directors meetings, attend the CCGG Annual Meeting, and to actively participate in at least one of CCGG’s committees, which includes monthly conference calls.

PRESIDENT
Serves as the Chief Executive Officer of CCGG; presides over the CCGG Annual Meeting and all other special meetings of the Council and its Board of Directors; serves as an ex-officio member of all committees, with the exception of the Nominations Committee. Term length – 2 years.

PRESIDENT-ELECT
The President-Elect serves as the incoming President of the organization, assuming office at the close of the current President’s term. Under the guidance of the current President, the President-Elect learns the duties of the office, serves as chairperson of the Education Committee, and organizes the Annual Meeting. Term length – 2 years.

VICE-PRESIDENT
The Vice-President supports the activities of the President and President-Elect, while also overseeing the activities of the Membership Committee. The efforts of the Membership Committee are devoted to increasing the visibility, reach, and overall membership recruitment goals of CCGG. Term length – 2 years.

TREASURER
The Treasurer is responsible for receiving, disbursing, and accounting for all funds belonging to CCGG. The Treasurer also serves as chairperson of the Finance Committee. Term length – 2 years.

SECRETARY
The Secretary is responsible for recording the proceedings of all CCGG Board of Directors meetings and disseminating those proceedings (in the form of minutes) to the Board. Term length – 2 years.

CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM REPRESENTATIVES
These board members represent to CCGG the interests and needs of gerontology programs within CSU campuses. These individuals must hold either a faculty or an administrative position within the CSU system. Term length – 2 years.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM REPRESENTATIVES
These board members represent to CCGG the interests and needs of gerontology programs within California community colleges. These individuals must hold either a faculty or an administrative position within a California community college. Term length – 2 years.

PRIVATE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM REPRESENTATIVES
These board members represent to CCGG the interests and needs of gerontology programs within California private colleges and universities. These individuals must hold either a faculty or an administrative position within a private California college or university. Term length – 2 years.

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SYSTEM REPRESENTATIVES
These board members represent to CCGG the interests and needs of gerontology programs within UC campuses. These individuals must hold either a faculty or an administrative position within the UC system. Term length – 2 years.

MEMBERS AT LARGE
These board positions provide an opportunity for those from wide-ranging areas of gerontology to occupy leadership positions within CCGG. Members At Large are often community program leaders, public policy specialists, or agency/business directors whose work is closely affiliated with the missions and goals of CCGG. Term length – 2 years.

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE
Student representatives are full voting members of the CCGG Board of Directors and are expected to contribute to proposed CCGG activities and decisions as they relate to students’ views and interests. Student representatives must be enrolled at a California institution of higher learning at the time of nomination, though they may complete their terms of office after having completed their degrees. Term length – 2 years.
