In celebration of Careers in Aging Month, we are highlighting the contributions of professionals in the field of aging. This post features Ana Jones, the founder of Phlex65, a mobile platform that connects caregivers with older adults and their families in need of caregiving support. Ana holds a master's degree in Gerontology from San Francisco State University.

Revolutionizing Senior Care with Technology and Compassion
For over two decades, I’ve dedicated my career to supporting older adults—first as a case manager in home care and later as a program director for older adult services. Through these roles, I’ve had the privilege of offering respite and guidance to families navigating the complexities of senior care, ensuring aging loved ones remain connected to their communities.
Eight years ago, I came to a troubling realization: senior care was still operating on outdated, fragmented systems with little to no automation. Essential processes like matching caregivers, scheduling services, tracking visits, and managing payments were cumbersome and manual. This created inefficiencies that drove up costs and caused unnecessary stress for both caregivers and families. Determined to make a change, I set out to develop Phlex65—a technology-driven platform designed to streamline the caregiving process. More than just an innovation in home care, Phlex65 represents my commitment to making quality care accessible, efficient, and reliable for seniors and their families.
My journey has been shaped by personal experiences that reinforced my passion for change. I’ve grappled with the same questions many families face: How do we ensure quality home care? Where do we find trusted caregivers? How do we empower older adults to maintain their independence while managing chronic illnesses? These concerns drove me to advocate for aging in place and policies that support home-based care solutions.
Beyond technology, I’ve always been a passionate advocate for seniors and their caregivers. I’ve been honored to champion the Silicon Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s, serving as a team captain and committee member to raise awareness about memory loss and the caregiving burden it places on families. Understanding the profound need for respite and support, I founded Phlex65 to offer a compassionate, seamless solution—one that not only connects families to trusted caregivers but also provides guidance throughout every stage of aging, including end-of-life care.
Blending healthcare and technology to drive meaningful change requires both a deep understanding of the population we serve and a recognition of the systemic gaps in care. My advice to those working in this space is clear: stay committed to innovation, but always prioritize accessibility, equity, and user experience.
To truly support older adults at local, state, and national levels, we must advocate for policy reforms, workforce development, and increased investment in home-based care. Advocacy is essential—we must elevate the voices of seniors, caregivers, and families to drive systemic change. The future of aging isn’t just about monitoring and tracking; it’s about meaningful solutions like AI-powered caregiver matching, culturally competent care, social engagement programs, and improved financial support for home care services. Only by embracing these innovations can we ensure that older adults receive the dignity, independence, and quality care they deserve.
I’m dedicated to pushing for systemic change, ensuring that technology serves as a tool for empowerment rather than a barrier. Through Phlex65, I envision a future where no family has to struggle to find compassionate, reliable care—because aging with dignity should not be a privilege, but a fundamental right.
