Reflections on October Events

Veronica Perez

October 2024

As we close out October, let’s reflect on all the wonderful advocacy and support for older adults.

Ageism Awareness Day was celebrated on October 9, 2024.  By bringing awareness to this issue, we support older adults and ensure that they have opportunities to continue to engage in meaningful opportunities in support of their overall well-being including employment, continued lifelong learning, reducing health disparities, and so much more.

October is also the time of year for the annual Medicare enrollment period which started October 15, 2024 and will end on December 7, 2024.   Health is one of the most important aspects of life for an older adult.  It can make a huge difference in their quality of life and personal health goals.   It is important to choose the insurance coverage that best meets their needs and with so many choices it can be overwhelming.  The benefits and co-pays can change annually and making sure to keep informed is important.
